An optical device composed of a large number of parallel slits of equal width and equal spacing is called a grating. The commonly used grating is made by engraving a large number of parallel grooves on a glass plate. The grooves are the opaque parts, while the smooth parts between the two grooves can allow light to pass through, which is equivalent to a slit. The refined grating is engraved with thousands or even tens of thousands of marks within a width of 1cm. This kind of grating that utilizes the diffraction of transmitted light is called a transmission grating. There is also a grating that utilizes the diffraction of reflected light between two notches. For instance, when many parallel notches are engraved on a surface coated with a metal layer, the smooth metal surface between the two notches can reflect light. Such a grating is called a reflection grating.

Grating is a technology that combines digital technology with traditional printing, capable of displaying various special effects on specially made films. It presents a vivid three-dimensional world on a flat surface, with smooth animated clips like movies and unimaginable transformation effects. A grating is a thin sheet composed of strip lenses. When we look from one side of the lens, we will see an image on a very thin line on the other side of the sheet, and the position of this line is determined by the viewing Angle. If we print these several images on different lines, corresponding to the width of each lens, in sequence and in lines on the back of the grating sheet, when we observe through the lens from different angles, we will see different images.
