Incremental rotary encoders have differences in resolution, which are measured by the number of pulses generated per revolution, ranging from 6 to 5400 or higher. The more pulses there are, the higher the resolution. This is one of the important bases for selection.

2. Incremental encoders typically have three signal outputs (differential encoders have six signals) : A,B, and Z. Generally, TTL levels are adopted, with the A pulse in front and the B pulse behind. The A and B pulses differ by 90 degrees, and a Z pulse is emitted per revolution, which can be used as a reference mechanical zero position. Generally, direction determination is carried out by using A leading B or B leading A. Our company defines the incremental encoder as follows: when the encoder rotates clockwise from the end of the shaft, it is considered forward rotation, with A leading B by 90°; conversely, when it rotates counterclockwise, it is considered reverse rotation, with B leading A by 90°. 3. When using PLC to collect data, a high-speed counting module can be selected. When collecting data using an industrial control computer, a high-speed counting board card can be selected. When using a single-chip microcomputer to collect data, it is recommended to select an input port with a photoelectric coupler.

4. It is recommended that Pulse B be A forward (forward) pulse, pulse A be a reverse (backward) pulse, and Z-origin zero position pulse.
